Preparing Russians for a conflict with Poland is underway.

In an interview with Jolanta Kamińska-Samolej for Interia, I explain why I believe Russians are being mentally prepared today for a possible conflict with Poland.

I point to Putin's biggest historical lies, from the myth of Crimea as a "Russian Jerusalem" to the erasure of 1939-1941 and the questioning of NKVD responsibility for Katyn. I explain that the struggle today is above all for the minds of younger generations, which is why the state turns history into the belt meant to connect the generation that draws its knowledge from traditional media with the young who seek information beyond the systemic truth: hence the mandatory course on Russian statehood, the restrictions on the global internet, and classes where children run around with weapons. I also explain the function of the book "A Short History of Polish Russophobia" and why I read the destruction of monuments to victims of Soviet terror in Poland as part of a war below the threshold of open conflict.
